Hadith 24:40
Jarir narrated to us, from al-Mughirah, from Uthman ibn Yasar, from Tamim ibn Hudhlum, who said: The first day he was greeted as an amir (commander) in Kufa with the title of amir, he said: "What is this? I am but a man among them." So it was left for a time, then he accepted it afterward.
