Hadith 24:6
Husayn ibn Ali narrated to us, from Mujammi, who said: Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla entered upon al-Hajjaj. Al-Hajjaj said to those sitting with him, "If you wish to look at a man who insults the Commander of the Faithful, Uthman, then here he is before you," meaning Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla. He said: So he (Abd al-Rahman) said, "I seek refuge in Allah, O Prince, from being one who insults Uthman. Indeed, verses in the Book of Allah restrain me from that. Allah says: 'For the poor emigrants who were expelled from their homes and their properties, seeking bounty from Allah and [His] approval and supporting Allah and His Messenger, [there is also a share]. Those are the truthful.'" He said: "So Uthman was one of them." He said: Then he said: "'And [also for] those who were settled in the home [i.e., al-Madinah] and [adopted] the faith before them.'" He said: "So my father was one of them." He said: "'And [there is a share for] those who came after them, saying, "Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith."'" He said: "So I am one of them." He said: "You have spoken the truth."
حدثنا حسين بن علي عن مجمع قال دخل عبد الرحمن بن أبي ليلى على الحجاج فقال لجلسائه إذا أردتم أن تنظروا إلى رجل يسب أمير المؤمنين عثمان فهذا عندكم يعني عبد الرحمن بن أبي ليلى قال فقال معاذ الله أيها الأمير أن أكون أسب عثمان إنه ليحجزني عن ذلك آيات في كتاب الله قال الله @QB@ للفقراء المهاجرين الذين أخرجوا من ديارهم وأموالهم يبتغون فضلا من الله ورضوانا وينصرون الله ورسوله أولئك هم الصادقون @QE@ 3 قال فكان عثمان منهم قال ثم قال @QB@ والذين تبوؤوا الدار والإيمان من قبلهم @QE@ 1 فكان أبي منهم @QB@ والذين جاؤوا من بعدهم يقولون ربنا اغفر لنا ولإخواننا الذين سبقونا بالإيمان @QE@ 2 فكنت منهم قال صدقت
