Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 16:1034

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ibn Mubarak narrated to us, from Ja’far ibn Hayyan, he said: ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Tarafah ibn ‘Arfajah narrated to me that his grandfather’s nose was injured on the day of al-Kulab. So he fashioned a nose out of silver, but it became foul-smelling for him. Then the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) commanded him to fashion a nose out of gold.
