Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 16:133

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Fudayl narrated to us, from Husayn, from Zayd ibn Wahb, from Thabit ibn Yazid al-Ansari, who said: We were with the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and the people found some dabb (lizards), so they roasted them and ate from them. I also obtained a dabb, roasted it, and then brought it to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. He took a palm branch and began counting his fingers with it, then said: "Indeed, a nation from the Children of Israel was transformed into beasts upon the earth, and I do not know, perhaps this is them." I said: "The people have already roasted them and eaten them." So he did not eat, but he did not forbid it.
