Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 16:36

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Abd al-A’la narrated to us, from al-Hasan and Muhammad, that they both disliked that the head of the young boy be smeared with the blood of the 'aqiqah. And al-Hasan said: "Blood is filth (rijs)."
