Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 16:6

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Hafs narrated to us, from Ash'ath, from Muhammad, he said: If I knew that he had not performed the 'aqiqah (sacrifice) for me, I would have performed the 'aqiqah for myself.
