Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ishaq bin Mansur narrated to us, he said: Muhammad bin Talha narrated to us, from Humayd bin Wahb, from Tawus—or Ibn Tawus—from Ibn Abbas, he said: A man passed by the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, who had dyed [his hair/beard] with henna. He said: "How beautiful is this." Then another passed by him who had dyed [his hair/beard] with henna and katam. He said: "This is more beautiful than this." He said: Then another passed by him who had dyed [his hair/beard] with yellow. He said: "This is more beautiful than all of this." He said: And Tawus used to dye [his hair/beard] yellow.
