Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 16:890

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Isa bin Yunus narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj, from Ata, that he used to dislike that the entire verse be written on a ring. And he did not see any harm in the ring having the remembrance of Allah [on it].
