Hadith 16:972

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Shababa narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Dhi'b, from al-Harith, from Kurayb, the freed slave of Ibn Abbas, from Usama, who said: I entered upon the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and he was depressed. I said: "What is the matter with you, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Gabriel promised to come to me, but he has not come to me for three days." Then a dog passed by. Usama said: I placed my hand on my head and shouted. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, began to say: "What is the matter with you, O Usama?" I said: "A dog passed by." The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, ordered it to be killed, so it was killed. Then Gabriel came to him, and he (the Prophet) greeted him warmly. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "What kept you? You used to promise me and not fail me." He said: "We do not enter a house in which there is a dog or images."
