Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 33:1002

Abu Usama narrated to us, he said: Abu al-Ashhab informed me, from al-Hasan, he said: When his offspring were presented to Adam, he saw the superiority of some of them over others. He said: "O Lord, if only You had made them equal." He said: "O Adam, I love to be thanked; so the one who possesses superiority sees his superiority, and he praises Me and thanks Me."
