Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 33:107

Muhammad ibn Bishr narrated to us, he said: Isma'il ibn Abi Khalid narrated to us, from 'Abd al-Malik ibn 'Umayr, who said: I was informed that Ibn Mas'ud said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "O people, there is nothing that brings you closer to Paradise and distances you from the Fire except that I have commanded you to do it, and there is nothing that brings you closer to the Fire and distances you from the Paradise except that I have forbidden you from it. And the Trustworthy Spirit (Jibril) has breathed into my heart that no soul will die until it has fulfilled its provision. So fear Allah and be moderate in seeking it, and do not let the slowness of provision lead you to seek it through the disobedience of Allah, for that which is with Him cannot be attained except through His obedience."
