Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 33:1256

Isa ibn Yunus narrated to us, from al-Awza'i, from Hassan ibn Atiyyah, who said: Whoever shows enmity to the allies (awliya) of Allah has declared war against Allah. Whoever allows his intercession to prevent a prescribed punishment (hadd) from the punishments of Allah has opposed Allah in His command. Whoever assists in a dispute about which he has no knowledge remains in the wrath of Allah until he desists. Whoever slanders a believer with that which he has no knowledge of, Allah will keep him in the mud of khabal (the discharge of the people of Hell) until he brings forth a way out from it. Whoever disputes on behalf of a weak person until he establishes his right for him, Allah will make his feet firm on the day when feet slip. And Allah said: "I do not hesitate in anything I intend as I hesitate in taking the soul of My believing servant; he dislikes death, and I dislike causing him distress, yet he must experience it."
