Hadith 33:1264
Abu Khalid al-Ahmar narrated to us, from Abdullah ibn Muslim, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn Abbas regarding the saying of the Exalted: "Then the whale swallowed him." He said: When it swallowed him, it took him until it placed him in the seventh earth. He heard the earth glorifying [Allah]. He said: So he stirred it to glorify [Allah], and he said: "There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers." He said: So it brought him out until it cast him onto the land, without hair or nails, like a newborn infant. Allah caused a tree to grow over him to shade him, and he would eat from the insects of the earth beneath it. While he was sleeping beneath it, its leaves, which had dried up, fell upon him. He complained about that to his Lord. It was said to him: "Do you grieve over a tree, and do not grieve over a hundred thousand or more who were about to be punished?"
