Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 33:1420

Muhammad ibn Mus’ab narrated to us, he said: Abu Bakr narrated to us, from Damrah, that Abu Rayhanah asked permission from the commander of his garrison to visit his family. He said, "O Abu Rayhanah, how long do you want me to grant you?" He said, "One night." When he arrived, he went to the mosque and did not cease praying until morning. Then he called for his mount, heading toward his garrison. They said, "O Abu Rayhanah, did you not ask permission to visit your family?" He said, "My commander only granted me a respite of one night, and I will not lie, nor will I break my promise." He said: So he returned to his garrison and did not visit his family. And the residence of Abu Rayhanah was Bayt al-Maqdis (Jerusalem).
