Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 33:1423

Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, from 'Asim, from al-Hasan, regarding the saying of Allah the Exalted: "Whoever does evil will be recompensed for it." Al-Hasan said: That is for the one whom Allah intends his humiliation. As for the one whom Allah intends his honor, He overlooks his evil deeds among the companions of Paradise: "The promise of truth which they were promised."
