Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 33:1471

Abu Dawud al-Tayalisi narrated to us, from Abu Hurrah, who said: Al-Hasan used to love consistency in deeds. He said: And Muhammad said: "Have you considered if he is energetic one night and lazy another night? He did not see any harm in that."
