Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 33:1495

Al-Fadl ibn Dukayn narrated to us, from Salih ibn Rustum, from Ibn Abi Mulaykah, who said: I accompanied Ibn Abbas from Makkah to Al-Madinah and from Al-Madinah to Makkah. Whenever he would stop at a place, he would stand for half the night, and he would do much *nashij* during that. I said, "And what is *nashij*?" He said, "Sobbing, weeping." And he would recite: "And the intoxication of death will bring the truth; that is what you were trying to avoid."
