Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 33:202

Yahya ibn Abi Bukayr narrated to us, he said: Muslim ibn Sa'd al-Wasiti informed us, from Mansur ibn Zadhan, from al-Hasan, he said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) used to console the people with his own self, until he would patch his lower garment with leather. And he did not combine dinner and lunch for three days, until Allah took his soul.
