Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 33:303

Abu al-Ahwas narrated to us, from Simak, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Abd Allah, from his father, who said: The likeness of minor deeds is like a people who stopped at a place where there was no firewood, and they had meat with them. They did not cease gathering [sticks] until they had collected enough to cook their meat.
