Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 33:327

Abdullah bin Numayr narrated to us, he said: Sufyan narrated to us, he said: Abdullah bin ‘Aish narrated to us, he said: Iyas narrated to me, from Abdullah, that he used to say in his sermon: The most truthful speech is the speech of Allah, and the most trustworthy handle is the word of piety, and the best of religions is the religion of Ibrahim, and the best of stories is this Quran, and the best of traditions is the tradition of Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and the most noble of speech is the remembrance of Allah, and the best of affairs are their resolutions, and the worst of affairs are their innovations, and the best of guidance is the guidance of the prophets, and the most noble of death is the killing of the martyrs, and the most blinding of misguidance is misguidance after guidance, and the best of knowledge is what benefits, and the best of guidance is what is followed, and the worst of blindness is the blindness of the heart, and the upper hand is better than the lower hand, and what is little and suffices is better than what is much and distracts. A soul that you save is better than an emirate that you cannot count, and the worst of excuses is at the presence of death, and the worst of regrets is the regret of the Day of Resurrection. Among the people are those who do not come to prayer except at the end, and among the people are those who do not remember Allah except in passing. The greatest of sins is the lying tongue, and the best of wealth is the wealth of the soul, and the best of provisions is piety, and the head of wisdom is the fear of Allah, and the best of what is cast into the heart is certainty, and doubt is from disbelief, and wailing is from the deeds of the Age of Ignorance, and misappropriation of spoils is from the embers of Hell, and hoarding is a branding from the Fire, and poetry is the flutes of Iblis, and wine is the gathering of sin, and women are the snares of Satan, and youth is a branch of madness. The worst of earnings is the earning of usury, and the worst of foods is consuming the wealth of the orphan, and the happy one is he who is admonished by others, and the wretched one is he who was wretched in his mother’s womb. It is sufficient for one of you what his soul is content with, and he will only end up in a space of four cubits, and the affair is by its end, and the most beloved of deeds is its conclusion. The worst of narrations are the narrations of lies, and everything that is coming is near. Insulting a believer is wickedness, and fighting him is disbelief, and eating his flesh is among the acts of disobedience to Allah, and the sanctity of his wealth is like the sanctity of his blood. Whoever swears by Allah, He will prove him a liar; whoever forgives, Allah will forgive him; whoever pardons, Allah will pardon him; whoever suppresses rage, Allah will reward him; whoever is patient over calamities, Allah will compensate him; whoever recognizes the trial, he is patient over it, and whoever does not recognize it, he denies it; whoever is arrogant, Allah will humble him; whoever seeks reputation, Allah will make him heard of; whoever intends the world, it will exhaust him; whoever obeys Satan, he disobeys Allah; and whoever disobeys Allah, He will punish him.
