Husayn ibn Ali narrated to us, from Za'idah, from Abd al-Malik ibn Umayr, from Raja' ibn Haywah, who said: Abu al-Darda' gathered the people of Damascus and said: "Listen to a brother of yours who is a sincere advisor. Do you gather wealth that you do not eat, and hope for things you do not attain, and build what you do not inhabit? Where are those who were before you? They gathered much, hoped for far-off things, and built strongly. Yet their gathering became ruin, their hope became delusion, and their dwellings became graves."
