Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 33:447

Waki’ narrated to us, from Shu’bah, from ‘Amr ibn Murrah, from ‘Abdullah ibn Salamah, who said: When Salman would obtain a sheep from the spoils of war, he would slaughter it, then he would dry its meat, and he would make its skin into a water skin, and he would make its wool into a rope. If he saw a man who was in need of a rope for his horse, he would give it to him, and if he saw a man who was in need of a water skin, he would give it to him.
