Abu Khalid narrated to us, from Yahya ibn Sa'id, from Abdullah ibn Hubayrah, who said: Abu al-Darda wrote to Salman: "As for what follows, I invite you to the Holy Land and the land of Jihad." He said: So Salman wrote back to him: "As for what follows, you have written to me inviting me to the Holy Land and the land of Jihad. By my life, the land does not make its people holy, but rather a person is made holy by his deeds."
