Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 33:476

Mu'adh ibn Mu'adh narrated to us, he said: Ibn 'Awn narrated to us, from 'Ubayd ibn Bab, he said: I was pouring [water] for Abu Hurayrah from a water skin. A man passed by him and he said: "Where are you heading, O so-and-so?" He said: "To the market." He said: "If you are able to buy death before you return, then do so." He said: Then he turned to me and said: "I have feared Allah regarding what he is hastening toward before the decree."
