Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 33:525

Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, he said: Isma'il ibn Abi Khalid informed us, from Qays ibn Abi Hazim, from Sa'd, who said: I have seen us raiding with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, while we had no provisions except the leaves of the acacia tree and this desert shrub, to the point that one of us would defecate just as a sheep defecates, having no mixture in it. Then, the Banu Asad have come to rebuke me regarding the religion. I would indeed be a failure, and my deeds would be lost.
