Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 33:567

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Jarir ibn Abd al-Hamid narrated to us, from Abd al-Aziz ibn Rufay, from Tamim ibn Tarfah, he said: I heard al-Dahhak ibn Qays saying: "O people, perform your deeds for Allah, for Allah does not accept any deed except that which is sincere. Let no one among you forgive a grievance and say, 'This is for Allah,' while it is for your own faces (reputation), for it is not for Allah; it is only for their own faces. And let no one among you uphold ties of kinship and say, 'This is for Allah and for the sake of kinship,' for it is only for the sake of kinship. Whoever performs a deed, let him make it for Allah and not associate anything with it, for Allah says on the Day of Resurrection: 'Whoever associates anything with Me in a deed he performed, it is for his partner; I have no part of it.'"
