Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 33:595

Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, from Hammad ibn Salamah, from Thabit al-Bunani, from Anas, who said: We were with Abu Musa on a journey of his, and he heard the people talking, and he heard eloquence and fluency. He said: "O Anas, come, let us remember Allah for an hour, for these people are such that one of them is almost able to tan a hide with his tongue." Then he said: "O Anas, what has held the people back from the Hereafter, what has held them back from it?" I said: "The world and the desires." He said: "No, but the Hereafter has been hidden, and the world has been hastened. If they had witnessed [the Hereafter], they would not have equated the two, nor would they have inclined [toward the world]."
