Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 33:706

Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Malik ibn al-Harith, from Abdullah ibn Rabi'ah, who said: Utbah ibn Farqad said to Abdullah ibn Rabi'ah, "O Abdullah, will you not help me regarding your nephew?" He said, "And what is that?" He said, "That he should help me with what I am in of work." So Abdullah said to him, "O Amr, obey your father." He (the narrator) said: Then he looked at Mu'addid, who was sitting, and said, "Do not obey him, and prostrate and draw near." He (the narrator) said: Then Amr said, "O my father, I am only a slave working for the freeing of my neck." He (Utbah) said: So Utbah wept and said, "O my son, I truly love you with two loves: a love for the sake of Allah, and the love of a father for his child." He (the narrator) said: Then Amr said, "O my father, you had brought me wealth that reached seventy thousand. If you are asking me about it, then here it is, take it. Otherwise, leave me so that I may spend it." Utbah said to him, "Then spend it." He said: So he spent it until not a single dirham remained of it.
