Hadith 33:747

Abdullah ibn Idris narrated to us, from Husayn, from Ibrahim al-Taymi, who said: It was among his sayings to say: "What greater regret is there for a person than to see a slave whom Allah had granted authority in the world, while he is of a higher status than him before Allah on the Day of Resurrection? And what greater regret is there for a person than that Allah gives him wealth in the world, then someone else inherits it from him and acts with it in obedience to Allah, so the burden of sin is upon him (the deceased) and the reward is for the other? And what greater regret is there for a person than to see a slave who was blind in the world, for whom Allah has opened his sight, while he himself has become blind?" Then he said: "Indeed, those who were before you used to flee from the world while it was coming towards them, and they had the precedence that they had. But you follow it while it is turning away from you, and you have the recent occurrences that you have. So compare your affair with the affair of those people."
