Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 33:793

Abu Khalid al-Ahmar narrated to us, from al-A’mash, from Khaythama, who said: Khaythama called me. When I came, there were people with turbans and cloaks on horses, so I belittled myself and turned back. He said: He met me after that and said, "What is the matter with you? You did not come." I said, "I did come, but I saw the people with turbans and cloaks on horses, so I belittled myself." He said, "By Allah, you are more beloved to me than them." He said: And when we would enter upon him, he would bring a basket from under the bed and say, "Eat. By Allah, I do not desire it, and I do not prepare it except for you."
