'Affan narrated to us, he said: Ja'far ibn Sulayman narrated to us, he said: Some of our sheikhs narrated to us, saying: 'Amir ibn 'Abd Allah said: "I only find myself grieving for Basra for four qualities: the responding of its mu'adhdhins, the thirst of the midday heat, because my close companions are in it, and because my homeland is in it."
