Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 33:891

Abu al-Ahwas narrated to us, from Abu Ghaylan, who said: Mutarrif ibn al-Shikhkhir used to say: "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil of the ruler and from the evil of what their pens record. And I seek refuge in You from saying something for the sake of truth by which I seek other than Your obedience. And I seek refuge in You from adorning myself for the people with something that disgraces me before You. And I seek refuge in You from seeking aid through any of Your acts of disobedience for a harm that has befallen me. And I seek refuge in You from making me a lesson for any of Your creation. And I seek refuge in You from making anyone happier with what You have taught me than I am. O Allah, do not disgrace me, for You are All-Knowing of me. O Allah, do not punish me, for You are All-Powerful over me."
