Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 33:908

Affan narrated to us, he said: Hammad narrated to us, from Thabit, that Mutarrif used to say: If goodness were in the palm of one of us, he would not be able to pour it into his heart until Allah is the One who pours it into his heart.
