Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 33:910

Affan narrated to us, he said: Hammad narrated to us, from Thabit, he said: Mutarrif said: I looked into the beginning of this matter, and behold, it is from Allah. And I looked into upon whom its completion rests, and behold, its completion rests upon Allah. And I looked into what its support is, and behold, its support is supplication.
