Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 33:971

Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, from Sufyan ibn Husayn, from al-Hasan, who said: When the companions of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) would meet, one man would say to his companion, "Has it reached you that you are entering it [Hell]?" He would say, "Yes." He would say, "Has it reached you that you are exiting from it?" He would say, "No." He would say, "Then what is the laughter for?"
