Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 18:1043

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Hafs narrated to us, from al-Shaybani, from al-Sha’bi, al-Hakam, and Hammad. They said: Whatever is from a strike with a whip, a stick, or a stone, and it is less than [causing] death, then it is intentional, and in it is retaliation (qisas).
