Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 18:1127

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Abd al-Rahim narrated to us, from Ash'ath, from al-Sha'bi, who said: A slain person was found between two tribes of Hamdan, between Wada'ah and Haywan. Umar sent al-Mughirah ibn Shu'bah with them. He said: "Go with them and measure the distance between the two villages. Whichever one it is closer to, attach the slain person to them."
