Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 18:1132

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Waki’ narrated to us, he said: Wahb ibn ‘Uqbah and Muslim ibn Yazid ibn Madhkur narrated to us, that they heard it from Yazid ibn Madhkur, that the people crowded in the congregational mosque in Kufa on a Friday, and they cleared a space around a slain man. Ali ibn Abi Talib paid his blood money (diyah) from the public treasury (Bayt al-Mal).
