Hadith 18:1164

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Abu Khalid narrated to us, from Hajjaj, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, and from ‘Amr ibn Shu’ayb, from his father, from his grandfather, and from Qatadah, from Abu al-Malih, and from ‘Ata’: That Qatadah had a slave woman (umm walad) who used to tend his sheep. His son by her said to him, "Until when will you keep my mother as a slave? By Allah, you shall not keep her as a slave any longer than you have already kept her." He said, "You are here for her," and he struck him with a sword and killed him. Suraqah ibn Ju’sham wrote to ‘Umar regarding that. ‘Umar wrote back to him, "Bring him to me, along with one hundred and twenty [camels]." Hajjaj said: And some of them said, "One hundred and forty." So he took from him thirty *hiqqah* (three-year-old camels), thirty *jadha’ah* (four-year-old camels), and forty that were between *thaniyyah* (five-year-old) and *bazil* (six-year-old), all of them pregnant (*khalfah*). He distributed them among his brothers and did not let him inherit anything.
