Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 18:1230

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Abd al-Rahim narrated to us, from Ash'ath, from al-Hakam, from Ibrahim, regarding the one who is retaliated against and then dies: The blood money for his wounds is lifted from the one who retaliated against him, and his (the deceased's) blood money is upon his (the deceased's) paternal relatives (*'aqilah*).
