Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 18:1238

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Qabisa ibn Uqba narrated to us, he said: Sufyan narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj, from Abu Abd Allah, from Ibn Abbas, regarding a man whose hand was cut off, then he made a settlement regarding it, then his hand became infected (or worsened) and he died. He said: The settlement is void, and the blood money (diyah) is to be taken.
