Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 18:1254

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Waki’ narrated to us, he said: Ibn Abi Khalid narrated to us, from ‘Amir, who said: A man came to Shurayh and said: "The sheep of this man cut my yarn." He (Shurayh) said: "Was it by night or by day? If it was by day, then he is absolved (of liability), and if it was by night, then he is liable." And he recited: "When the sheep of the people strayed into it (at night)." And he said: "The straying (an-nafsh) only occurred at night."
