Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 18:1291

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Hafs narrated to us, from al-Shaybani, from al-Sha’bi, al-Hakam, and Hammad: They said: Whatever one is struck with, whether a whip, a stick, or a stone, and it is less than [causing] death, then it is intentional, and its blood money is retaliation.
