Hadith 18:1335
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Abu Usamah narrated to us, from al-Mujalid, he said: 'Urayf of Juhaynah narrated to me that a captive was brought to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, in the winter. He said to some people from Juhaynah, "Take him and *daffuhu* (warm him/finish him off)." He said: *Al-daf'* in their dialect, among them, meant killing. So they took him and killed him. Then the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, asked them afterwards, and they said, "O Messenger of Allah, did you not command us to kill him?" He said, "And how did I say it to you?" They said, "You said: 'Take him and *daffuhu*.'" He said, "Then I have participated with you. Tie him up, and I am your partner [in the blood money/responsibility]." He said: I narrated this hadith to 'Amir, and he said: 'Urayf spoke the truth, and he knew the hadith.
