Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 18:322

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Abu Khalid al-Ahmar and Abu Usama narrated to us, from Hisham, from Muhammad, from Shurayh, that he used to assign for it [the compensation] according to the amount that it had diminished.
