Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 18:44

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Hafs narrated to us, from al-Shaybani, from al-Sha’bi, al-Hakam, and Hammad: They said: Whatever is struck with—whether a stone, a whip, or a stick—and it results in the loss of life, then it is quasi-intentional (shibh al-‘amd), and in it is the aggravated blood money (al-diyah al-mughallazah).
