Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 18:455

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Hafs narrated to us, from Hajjaj, from Husayn al-Harithi, from al-Sha’bi, from al-Harith, from Ali, who said: Whatever the slave commits of a crime, it is upon his neck (i.e., his responsibility). And his master is given the choice: if he wishes, he may ransom him, and if he wishes, he may hand him over.
