Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 18:462

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Sulayman ibn Harb narrated to us, from Hammad ibn Zayd, from Hisham ibn Urwah, from his father, that he used to say regarding the slave who commits a crime: His master has the choice; if he wishes, he may surrender the slave for the crime, and if he wishes, he may pay the [compensation for the] crime and keep the slave.
