Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Hafs narrated to us, from al-Shaybani, from al-Sha’bi, al-Hakam, and Hammad: They said: Whatever you strike with—whether a whip, a stone, or a stick—and it results in the loss of life, then it is quasi-intentional (shibh al-‘amd). In it is the heavy blood money (al-diyah al-mughallazah) upon the paternal relatives (al-‘aqilah).
