Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Waki’ narrated to us, he said: Sufyan narrated to us, from Tariq ibn Abd al-Rahman, who said: I was with Shurayh when a beggar came to him whose bag had been torn and whose leg had been scratched. He said: "If I entered the house of some people and their dog bit me, [what is the ruling]?" Shurayh said: "If they had given you permission, then they are liable; otherwise, there is no liability upon them."
